All clergy and staff as well as volunteers who work with minors under 18 years of age or vulnerable adults must be screened as part of the Safe Environment program at St. Pius X. Getting started is a 6 step process....don't worry, all 6 steps can be completed in one on-site training session. 1. Complete the On-Line Screening form (includes permission/release for background check). Or print them off and complete them prior to coming to a training session. Click on Forms, Policies, Manuals to complete or access and print the Screening form. 2. Complete the Three (3) Reference forms. Provide a personal reference who has known you 3 years—cannot be a family member/relative. Again, click on Forms, Policies, Manuals to access and print the Screening form (if not done on-line) and Reference form. 3. Participate in a live Interview. This is a documented personal interview by head of ministry/Director of Safe Environment/or parish designate. It is the responsibility of applicant to attend special interview sessions typically provided before trainings or to schedule if necessary. 4. Complete the Acknowledgment form. This simply affirms you have read the Safe Environment Policy and that you agree to abide by those instructions and guidelines. Again, click on Forms, Policies, Manuals to access and read the Safe Environment Program and Policy on Sexual Misconduct. These do not need to be printed, this is your reference guide for the program. 5. Submit to a Background check. This check will be conducted and documented by the Diocesan approved vendor which is currently Accutrak. The information you have already provided on the screening form already provides the necessary data for Accutrak to perform the check. 6. Have your picture taken for the badge. This is done at the live interview. The on-site training sessions that you need to attend are typically scheduled on campus once every 4-6 weeks. Click here for training sessions that are currently scheduled. Additional sessions are normally scheduled in August to accommodate new parents and to prepare for school opening. These are the steps required if you are new to the Safe Environment program and have not been trained. If you have already been trained and just need your annual training update, click here. NOTICE: If you have been screened and cleared at another parish in the Diocese of Dallas, please have their Safety Officer fax or send a verification document to our church office to the attention of Ginger Farrell. The church fax number is 972-686-7510. |
